Three Kings Day, known as "Día de los Reyes" in Puerto Rico, is a cherished cultural and religious celebration that takes place on January 6th, marking the end of the Christmas season. This festive occasion commemorates the biblical visit of the Three Wise Men—Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar—to the newborn Jesus, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. In Puerto Rican tradition, the night before, children prepare by placing boxes of grass or hay under their beds for the camels of the Magi, hoping to receive gifts in return. The day itself is filled with vibrant parades, community gatherings, and family feasts featuring delicious local dishes such as roasted pork and traditional desserts like "tembleque" and "rosca de reyes." The celebration reflects a blend of religious devotion and cultural heritage, highlighting the importance of family and community in Puerto Rican society.
